RUSH - Rapid Unix Shell by Brandt Ousley

Welcome to the RUSH - Rapid Unix Shell interactive demo. This is a JavaScript simulation of how the actual C-based shell works. The commands you run here are simulated in JavaScript within your browser, not by executing the real C code.

When you use the view-code command, you'll see the actual C implementation of RUSH that would run on a Unix system. This demo lets you experience how the shell would behave without needing to compile and run the C code.

Available Commands

Built-in commands:

exit - Exit the shell
cd [dir] - Change directory
path [dir1] [dir2] ... - Set path directories

Simulated external commands:

ls - List files in current directory
cat [file] - Display file contents
echo [text] - Display text
pwd - Print working directory
help - Display this help
clear - Clear the terminal

Special features:

command > file - Redirect output to file
cmd1 & cmd2 & cmd3 - Run commands in parallel
